UPPER SACRAMENTO RIVER
Located conveniently near interstate 5 and only a half hour north of Redding, the Upper Sacramento River offers three stretches of
whitewater rafting excellent for the beginner to the advanced rafter. From its
headwaters near majestic Mt. Shasta the Sacramento River cascades through the historic
town of Dunsmuir with spectacular views of Castle Craggs and Mt. Shasta.
For those seeking a more challenging whitewater experience, the Box Canyon
stretch flows out of Lake Siskiyou through beautiful vertical canyon walls.
The Upper Sacramento River has also gained recognition as a blue ribbon trout stream.
Through this beautiful and unique canyon with its side creek waterfalls, wildflowers,
and lush forests you'll encounter over 45 action packed rapids. This river
is fast paced with excitement around every bend. Wilderness Adventures
pioneered the first guided whitewater trips through this canyon above
Lake Shasta and we consider it to be one of our most dramatic rivers.
If you're looking for loads of fun and adventure, the Upper Sacramento River is a perfect
start to the season.
UPPER SACRAMENTO RAFTING TRIPS
One
Day Upper Sacramento Rafting Trip
We will meet and prepare for our river voyage. Lifejackets will
be fitted and a river safety and equipment lesson will be given. After
this orientation we will board the rafts and head down river. The action
begins immediately with virtually nonstop Class III rapids. After a few
miles, we will take a break from the whitewater and enjoy some of the
beautiful scenery and a hearty buffet lunch. The second half of the day
holds many more exciting rapids including the Class IV "White Horse" (guests
have the option to walk around). At the end of the trip we will be greeted
by our shuttle and assorted beverages.
Two
Day Upper Sacramento Rafting Trip
We will meet a little later and take our time. After enjoying
some morning rapids, elaborate lunch, and beautiful sandy beaches, we
will take time for some water play and a side hike or two. In camp the
guides will set up kitchen and begin preparing a decadent meal. While
in camp you can choose your sleeping site, fish, swim, play or just relax.
The evening meal will be followed by dessert, campfire entertainment,
and a peaceful night's sleep under the stars. In the morning the wonderful
smell of coffee and breakfast will greet your senses. We will re-pack
our gear and get ready for another exciting day on the Upper Sacramento River. This day
includes more terrific whitewater rafting and the infamous "Muirs Creek" a Class
IV drop. We will feast on another hearty lunch at a riverside sandy beach
and continue down the final stretch of the river. When we reach the take-out
our vehicle and ice cold drinks will be waiting .
